Iron Man’s latest—questionably—heroic act has quietly supported Armie Hammer financially for the past year.
A source close to the disgraced “Call Me by Your Name” star told Vanity Fair that Robert Downey Jr. Hammer’s six-month stay at The Guest House rehab facility in Florida has paid off following shocking allegations of emotional abuse, manipulation and rape.
A recovering addict, the “Avengers” star also came through for Hammer, 35, his estranged wife Elizabeth Chambers and their children last week by allowing them to stay at his home while escaping media scrutiny after it was reported that he worked on the Cayman Islands as a timeshare salesman.
“I cannot confirm or deny the report because Armie did not address it,” Hammer’s lawyer said in a statement to Vidak For Congress on Friday morning. “I just think it’s s–tty that when he sells timeshares, the media puts him to shame because he has a ‘normal job’.”
Representatives of Downey Jr. did not immediately respond to Vidak For Congress’s request for comment.
Chambers, who filed for divorce from Hammer before his “cannibal” scandal broke, has documented her family’s stay in LA for the past week, seemingly rushing back to her former Hollywood life. On Thursday, Bird Bakery founder shared a video of an A-list dinner with Priyanka Chopra.
Of course, while her Instagram shows her two children with Hammer, Harper and Ford enjoying the West Coast, Chambers never shows Hammer on her social media, although sources previously told Vidak For Congress that she supports him for the sake of her family.
“For weeks I have been trying to process everything that has happened. I am shocked, heartbroken and devastated. Heartbreak aside, I am listening and will continue to listen and educate myself on these delicate matters,” Chambers, 39, wrote on social media after the scandal broke.
“I didn’t realize how much I didn’t know. I support any victim of sexual assault or abuse and urge anyone who has experienced this pain to seek the help she or he needs to heal.”
