Kim Kardashian ‘mortified’ by backlash over ‘work’ comments

Kim Kardashian was “mortified” by the response to her now infamous comments about people having to “work”.

In a new trailer for the second season of Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” the Skkn founder discusses with her sister Khloé Kardashian the controversy she sparked with the viral video.

“Have you seen all the responses to the Variety interview?” Kim says in a voiceover.

“Nobody empathizes with you,” the co-founder of Good American responds.

“I’m mortified, and I can understand why people were upset,” Kim admits.

Kim, 41, went viral in March after advising women in business to “lift your fucking ass and get to work.” Kourtney Kardashian also received huge criticism for backing Skims creator’s comments, as Kourtney, 43, spent several seasons of the previous family show, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” discussing how little she wants to work.

Social media exploded with commentary, given how Kim was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, and even the ever-vocal Jameela Jamil made sure to weigh the comments.

“I should be very happy right now. I had just…

“I think if you grew up in Beverly Hills with super successful parents in what was just a smaller mansion… No one needs to hear your opinion on success/work ethic,” Jamil tweeted in response.

“These same 24 hours a day is a nightmare,” she added. “99.9% of the world grew up with a VERY different 24 hours.”

Kim later clarified the out-of-touch comments, calling the age-old excuse “taken out of context”.

“Well, that statement I said was without questions and conversations around it. It became a sound bite, really out of context,” she told Robin Roberts, co-anchor of Good Morning America in March.

The reality star went on to explain that she was responding to a question about the idea that she’s been in the business for 20 years, but that she’s still considered “famous because she’s famous.”

“It wasn’t a general statement to women or to feel like I don’t respect the work or think they don’t work hard,” she clarified. “I know they do. It’s taken out of context, but I’m really sorry if it was received that way.”
