DVF looks red hot at 75.
Diane von Furstenberg showed off her summery style on Instagram yesterday, posting a mirror selfie of herself wearing a red one-piece with high-cut legs – and getting a lot of support for her look.
The legendary fashion designer went makeup-free, accessorized with a watch and several beaded bracelets and wrote: “Selfie at 75? Trying to own it and swimming for 2 hours a day helps! I know I have to smile, but I feel I’m stupid when I smile at myself! Gratitude.”
Many famous friends praised von Furstenberg’s swimsuit moment, such as Andie Macdowell, who wrote “Fabulous” with a fire emoji and Shalom Harlow, who commented with two hearts and a raised hand emoji.
Filmmaker Ava DuVernay said, “Gorgeous & sensational,” while supermodel Iman added, “Fearless & Beautiful.”
This isn’t the first time the fashion guru has shared a bathing suit selfie; in January 2021, she shared a similar one-piece look, wearing an emerald green suit that attracted more attention than she expected.
“I turned 74, I just came back from a long swim and I had no makeup on and my hair was wet, and I took this selfie because I thought, well, pretty good for 74,” she told People. ‘And I don’t know. It’s not even a good photo. I posted it and it went viral.”
The “House of DVF” star captioned the photo: “Am I crazy to post this? Own your age….it’s proof you’ve lived! Love to all.”
Von Furstenberg is no stranger to ‘owning it’; she wrote the self-empowerment book “Own It: The Secret to Life” last year, sharing her thoughts on personal and professional growth in an A-Z dictionary style.
“You own your imperfections, they become your property,” she told People after the release of her book. “You own your vulnerability, they become your stride.”
