A “Bachelorette” contestant tries to explain what was going through his mind when he called co-lead Gabby Windy “rough around the edges.”
“What an evening, with so many emotions I have to say that I have enormous respect for Gabby and Rachel,” Hayden Markowitz wrote on Instagram on Monday.
The leisure manager admitted that he “isn’t the most eloquent with words sometimes,” adding, “But I turned my heart toward my intentions.”
He concluded his post: “Extremely happy that Rachel saw me for who I am inside and allowed me to continue the journey with her.”
On Monday’s episode, Markowitz, 29, told Windey, 31, that he wanted to chase co-“bachelorette” Rachel Recchia instead of her, but Bachelor Nation was quick to invite him over for the way he broke the news. proclaimed to her.
“Hayden tells me he feels his morals are more in line with Rachel, and that it absolutely hurts to be called ‘rough around the edges,'” Windey told the cameras.
“When it comes down to it, I want to be rough because I know who I am on the inside, and I’m proud of it.”
Markowitz isn’t the only one who harshly told Windey he didn’t see a future with her. Fellow contestant Jacob Rapini told the ICU nurse that if she was the only lead actor, he wouldn’t stay on the show.
In the end, the two “Bachelorettes” decided to change the format of their season by handing out roses individually, but Recchia, 26, felt rejected when three men turned down her rose to chase Windey.
Windey has nine men left on her journey to find love, and Recchia has eight men left in the running.
“The Bachelorette” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
