Hair today, gone tomorrow.
Apparently, Keleigh Sperry wasn’t a fan of husband Miles Teller’s “Top Gun: Maverick” mustache – even though it started a viral trend on TikTok.
“My wife made me shave it right away,” the 35-year-old star told People in a recent interview.
The model and actress, who married her husband, the actor “Footloose” in 2019, may not have been big on his movie style, but many fans of the movie disagree.
In the highly anticipated sequel to the 1986 film, Teller plays Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw, the son of Goose from the original “Top Gun” — and his ’80s-style “stache” has given the look a bit of a comeback.
Check out #topgunmustache or #topgunmustachechallenge on TikTok and you’ll see thousands of men flaunting their best eighties facial hair on the social network, like a moviegoer who posted a video of him shaving the perfect Rooster look with the caption: “POV: the morning after watching Top Gun.”
The trend was so popular that GQ turned to facial hair expert Joe Mills for tips on how to get the perfect “Top Gun: Maverick” look; he advised men to “give yourself at least two weeks to get it to a good growth level” and “start at the cavity of the mouth” when shaving.
Movie fans aren’t the only ones joining in on the TikTok “Top Gun” fun; Sperry shared some shirtless videos of her husband on the platform to promote the film.
“My wife just enjoys it because she clearly loves me more than anyone else,” the “Too Old to Die Young” actor told E! News.
As for other guys who “rock the stache,” Teller told People he was a “huge fan of it. If it gives them more confidence, they’ll have more power. … But we’ll see, maybe it’ll be a good summer trend.” and then dies out.”
