“Big Brother” alums want justice for Taylor Hale.
Former contestants on the CBS reality competition show took to social media this weekend to criticize the Season 24 cast for assaulting and ostracizing one of their own roommates.
“Members of the black community (especially black women) and other people of color don’t stand a chance in the Big Brother House because of the continuation of micro-aggressions and unconscious biases that plague our society,” Xavier Prather, who was a member of an all-black alliance known as The Cookout before winning season 23, wrote on Twitter Sunday.
Prather, 28, described the behavior of the current house guests as “reprehensible” after Hale, 27, burst into tears Saturday night when she apparently heard some of her co-stars pronounce her maliciously.
“I hope in the future there will be no need for a ‘Cookout’ for black houseguests (or any POC houseguest) to finally escape the feeling of being ostracized within the Big Brother House for simply existing,” Prather concluded. post. “Change is a MUST! Until then, I know my fellow Michigander will hold her head high and stand up straight like the queen she is.
Tiffany Mitchell, another member of The Cookout, tweeted that she was “FUMING” after seeing a clip of Monte Taylor and Terrance Higgins talking about Hale on the live feeds.
“two black men gossiping and knocking down another black woman who actually did NOTHING to them. Accusing her of being condescending [sic] because she actually has a personality,” she wrote.
Mitchell, 41, later called out Daniel Durston for reportedly saying he knew Hale would be “bad news” the moment he saw her.
“Just by looking at her. Don’t talk to her. Don’t see her doing anything. I looked at her and noticed some bad news. Okay,” she tweeted.
“Big Brother” legends, including Janelle Pierzina and Rachel Reilly, also spoke out in support of Hale.
“Let’s make the beautiful quiet women who have literally done nothing but breathe, cry and make her feel like she’s s–t. She cries after hearing [Paloma Aguilar] talk nonsense about her. So fricked sad 😞,” Pierzina, 42, tweeted next to a video from Hale sobbing into her hands.
Reilly, 37, asked then“can we just put women who empower and uplift each other?”
While the show has yet to cover the cast’s treatment of Hale, Sunday’s episode featured footage of her upstairs playing pool with her male co-stars, while her female roommates gathered in a room downstairs and the former Miss Michigan USA competitor knew it as a “pageant girl.”
Representatives of “Big Brother” did not immediately respond to Vidak For Congress’s request for comment.
