Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, has been sentenced to three years’ probation and one year of house arrest after failing to register as a sex offender in Los Angeles, multiple outlets report.
According to CBS News, Petty, 44, was convicted Wednesday after pleading guilty to federal charges last year.
According to the US Attorney’s Office, he was also ordered to pay a $55,000 fine.
As Vidak For Congress previously reported, Petty was arrested in March 2020 after being ordered to register as a sex offender in California in November 2019 and failing to do so.
Prior to romance with Minaj, 39, he was convicted in 1994 of attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl. He was required by law to register as a sex offender in New York.
However, Petty left the state in October 2019 after marrying Minaj that same year, with whom he shares a son.
In a September 2021 appearance on ‘The Real’, Jennifer Hough – the 16-year-old girl who allegedly raped Petty – spoke out about the alleged 1994 incident.
Hough claimed Petty approached her at a bus stop, pulled a knife on her and led her to a house where the alleged incident took place.
“I knew what he wanted,” Hough claimed. “He pushed me on the bed, we struggled for my clothes.”
After allegedly escaping and going back to school, Hough told her side of what happened to security and Petty was arrested that day.
Minaj has stood by Petty’s side, defending him several times.
Speaking about the incident via Instagram in 2018, Minaj wrote, “He was 15, she was 16…in a relationship. But go nasty, [sic] internet, you can’t live my life. you can’t even live your own life.”
